AM Rotary Board and Committee Members: Club Assembly/Town Hall Meeting

Our periodic club assemblies are a chance to measure how we’re doing in various areas, including community service, granting, membership recruitment, and more. We heard from board and committee members Nov. 19 that progress is being made.

Adam Sienkowski brought us up to date on a new feature at our tables: a photo guide to members that’s intended to get us more acquainted with others in the club. Jacob Stonesifer focused on our community service and noted that we’re aiming for about one club service project per quarter. Lyndon Moquist has been bringing good speakers and programs to our meetings and reminded members to help.

Jon Estall rallied club members to reach out to prospective sponsor; it all starts with an introduction and continues with efforts to building a relationship. After a brief hiatus, we’re back to granting toward community needs, Jon Melander and Carol Bomben explained; additional committee members are needed. Jenifer Loon is leading our world community service effort, with help from others, and she noted the projects that are underway in Honduras and Guatemala. A big thank-you was given to Mo Mara, our club administrator, who will soon leave but not before breaking in a replacement.

Holly Link has been updating our website so that it has clear and logical steps and materials for prospective new members. The club’s intersection with Rotary International was outlined by Roger Jorgensen, who reminded club members that now is the time to make pledges and contributions.

Thanks, everyone, for the timely updates.

  • The Nov. 26 club meeting will feature speaker Louise Griffith on “You are Worth It; What’s Holding You Back?”
  • The Nov. 26 meeting is your last chance to pitch in on PROP’s holiday gift program, which this year is focusing on gift cards. Bring a gift card or check/cash allowing PROP to purchase one (or more!) cards at $30 each.
  • Shortly before the deadline, Eden Prairie’s Rotary clubs have jointly set a record for outbound Rotary Youth Exchange students – three for the year-long program and three for the short-term program.
  • Caryl Hansen expresses her thanks to the club for the beautiful basket of plants sent to her recently upon the death of her husband, John.

Spotlight on Adam Sienkowski

The member spotlight was on member Adam Sienkowski, born and raised in Wisconsin, surrounded by animals from the family’s dog-kennel business. Adam moved to the Twin Cities to attend college and law school. He met his wife, Emily, during that time. They have a son, Nolan, and another child on the way. While studying at law school, Adam clerked locally at the Gilbert Law Group; in 2013 he received his license and is a full-fledged attorney at the firm. Looking to be involved in the Eden Prairie community, Adam found us by chance, walked into a meeting, joined, and has gone on to serve on the club’s board of directors.

Happy Fines

We’re happy and we’ll happily pay to share our stories. Club and city council members PG Narayanan, Brad Aho, and Mark Freiberg are happy about officially welcoming club President John Crudele as a new resident of Eden Prairie, having recently moved from Savage. Lori Thrune is happy about hosting exchange student Clementine, who will join Lori and Blake on a trip to Hawaii that includes the Rotary international convention. Josh Swanson is happy about the school district having convened recently with about 15 business partners, and he’s also happy about a recent vacation in Sonoma. Lyndon Moquist is happy about his father-in-law’s successful move from a home he built to a new home at The Crossings. Dan O’Brien is happy and enthusiastic about the club’s recent outing to see “Guys & Dolls” at Eden Prairie High School.
