Enjoy bagels and coffee while we learn about the tremendous impact the organization has delivering meals to needy places around the world.  Then we'll don our hairnets and give "Service Above Self" to pack as many bags and boxes of food packs as we can during our time there. Wear comfortable shoes as we'll stand while packing food.

2016 RYDER CUP CHAMPION DIRECTOR JEFF HINTZ
 
Here are a few fun facts about the Ryder Cup.
 
-The Cup is named after Samuel Ryder, an English businessman, entrepreneur and golf enthusiast.
-The Ryder cup trophy is currently in town.
-They expect 250,000 spectators and 45,000 volunteers (it costs $220 to be a volunteer).
-They expect to sell 426,000 cans/bottles of soda and water and 572,000 beers.
-There will be over 2 million square feet of floors and tents for hospitality.
-The Ryder cup will have a $135 million impact on the local economy.
-24 golfers compete strictly for bragging rights (no monetary reward), 12 from the US and 12 from Europe. Competition is held every 2 years, alternating between the US and Europe.
-This will be one of the largest events in Minnesota sports history.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Our February 24 meeting will be held at Feed My Starving Children. Plan to arrive early at 7:15 and be prepared to stay until 9.
Progressive Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, February 28 at Biaggi’s.
 
SPOTLIGHT ON BOB SOLOHUB
Bob was born in Winnipeg and received his BS in Engineering and MBA from Canadian Universities. He made his living in the medical devices industry, living for a time in England, Asia and Texas before settling in Eden Prairie and retiring. He met his wife Iona in 1962.They were married in ’63, have one son in Minnetonka along with one granddaughter. Over the years Bob and Iona have visited 55 countries. Bob recently used a service that traced his lineage back 60,000 years. It turns out he is 43% northern European, 35% Mediterranean, 19% Southwest Asian, 2% Oceanic and 2% native American. That’s 101% all Rotarian.
