Everspring Health
Our speaker, John Blaska, founded the Everspring Health Clinic in 2002 after participating in a class at the U of M which discussed “why is Health Care broken?” Healthspring is a neighborhood model clinic specializing in alternative care and holistic medicine offering acupuncture, healing touch and massage therapy.
John said that for the first time in history chronic disease kills more people than acute disease. His goal is to change the landscape of primary care. There clinic is mission driven rather than profit driven, patient centered and based on a cooperative structure. In the future they hope to add chiropractic and physical therapy. The clinic is located at 2201 Hennepin Ave. So., Minneapolis. Look for them online at www.everspringhealth.com

Announcements:
  • The club is gearing up for our annual fund raiser, The Vino Classico, which will be held on October 10, 2015. Becky Deelstra reminded us of the many things that Vino supports. All club members are expected to participate. If you’d like to join the planning committee contact Becky or Justin Stueve.
  • The annual STRIVE breakfast is this Tuesday, May 5, at the Eden Prairie Community Center on Valley View Road. In addition, annual awards for seniors will be presented at Eden Prairie High School including the presentation of STRIVE scholarships, on May 14.
  • The Above and Beyond banquet is May 13 at Olympic Hills Country Club. Nine students will be recognized.
  • A clipboard was distributed and people pledged help for the victims of the earthquake in Nepal. The tragedy hits close to home as several members visited Nepal on a recent Friendship Exchange. Our goal is to team up with other clubs in the area to provide humanitarian help.
  • Grand requests to the club are due by May 15th. Submit to info@epamrotary.org
  • Mo reminded us to turn in service make-ups and encouraged us to go on line and review our attendance.
Joyful, Joyful
  • Elaine Larabee asked us to all think good thoughts as juniors in the district are taking the ACT test. Furthermore, she recently visited her daughter at the University of Iowa where Elaine learned her daughter was in the top 5 academically in her sorority.
  • Pei Ling Jameson just spent 15 hours at a yoga retreat and was also delighted with the first Power of 100 event.
  • Carol Bomben just returned from visiting her grandson.
  • Dave Anderson was impressed that 20% of the attendees at Eden Prairie Gives were EPAM Rotarians. Also, with a little help from Mike Grant, he has secured Coach Jerry Kill as keynote speaker for the Golden Eagle Awards.
  • Bev Aho enjoyed Eden Prairie Give and dress shopping with her daughter.
  • Bruce Huthcins enjoyed a Sunday dinner for 10 at Biaggi’s which he purchased through the Silent Auction at the Vino Classico.
  • Roy Terwilliger and Mary Lou spent 5 days in Washington D.C. with 5 of their nine grandchildren.
  • Jeanne Zetah reported on attending a leadership class at the U of M. Former outbound exchange student, Maria Friedman, and a group of students presented their findings about the Eden Prairie AM Rotary. They observed a meeting, the park clean-up, food packing and interviewed Jeanne and Dan O’Brien. At the conclusion of their presentation they simulated “Happy Fines” with Starburst candies.
